A September Prayer: Because your love has made room for us.

Gracious God,

As September brings a new season, fill us with hope for all that lies ahead.

Be with our children and young people as they return to school. Calm anxious hearts, awaken curious minds, and give them courage for new classrooms, new teachers, and new friendships. Bless the teachers, staff, bus drivers, administrators, and families who will walk beside them.

And when someone feels new, different, uncertain, or alone, help us notice.

Teach us to move over.
To learn a name.
To offer friendship.
To make room.

Remind us that every person we meet is someone you know and love.

As routines begin again and the seasons slowly change, open our hearts to the new things you are doing among us. Give us hope for what is beginning, grace for what we are leaving behind, and eyes to see the people you place along our way.

May our homes, our schools, our churches, and our lives always have room for one more.

Because your love has made room for us.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
