A Prayer for the Road Ahead

God who walks with me, sometimes the road ahead is clear, and sometimes I cannot see beyond the next bend.

There are roads I have chosen and roads I never intended to travel.

There have been unexpected turns, beautiful surprises, painful detours, and places where I have wondered where You were leading me.

When I cannot see the whole road, help me trust You with the next step.
When I am tired, give me permission to rest.
When I am afraid, remind me that I do not walk alone.
When plans change, and life takes me somewhere I never expected to be, help me resist the fear that I have somehow lost my way.

Teach me to keep walking.

Teach me to keep talking to You.

Teach me to recognize Your presence beside me—even on the broken and crooked roads I would never have chosen.

And when I have the opportunity to pause, help me look back and remember the places where Your grace carried me when I could not see it for myself.

I don’t need to know what is around the next bend.
I only need enough faith for the next step, and the assurance that wherever the road leads, You will meet me there.

Thank You for the roads already traveled—for their beauty, their lessons, and even the unexpected turns that brought me here.

And bless the road ahead. Whatever it holds, give me courage to walk it, grace to receive it, and faith to trust that You will continue to walk it with me.

Amen.
