Kitchen Table Wisdom

Gracious God,

Thank you for the gift of summer camp—for the places where children gather, friendships begin, and hearts become open to discover more of who You are.

Before any child arrives, You are already there.

You are present in the trees that surround the camp, the waters that invite us to play, the skies above us, and the beauty of creation that reminds us of Your goodness. You have been speaking through Your creation since the beginning, and we pray that each child would learn to notice Your presence in the world around them.

But Lord, we also know that You reveal Yourself through people.

Thank you for counselors, volunteers, teachers, cooks, lifeguards, and all those who create a place where children feel welcomed and loved. Give them patience when days are long, joy when challenges come, and eyes to see the child who needs a little extra encouragement.

For every camper who arrives excited, give them moments of wonder.

For every camper who arrives uncertain, give them a sense of belonging.

For every camper who carries questions, give them companions who will walk beside them as they seek answers.

May this be a place where children discover they are not alone—that there are others learning, growing, and seeking You alongside them.

Bless the conversations around tables, the laughter during activities, the songs that rise around campfires, the prayers whispered at bedtime, and the quiet moments when a child realizes they are deeply loved.

Help us remember that we may never know which small moment becomes a seed planted in a child’s heart. A kind word. A listening ear. A shared story. A simple act of love. Use those moments to grow faith that lasts long beyond one week of camp.

Lord, bless the children who come, the adults who serve, and the communities that send them. May this week be more than an experience. May it become a reminder that You are near, You are faithful, and You are walking with us wherever we go.

And may we continue to grow together—
one child,
one week,
one hopeful heart at a time.
