Loving God,
Today, we come before You with grateful and honest hearts.
We give You thanks for the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors, and father figures who have loved us well—those who encouraged us, protected us, taught us, and helped us glimpse something of Your love through their care.
Yet we also come carrying grief.
Some among us miss fathers who have gone before us into Your eternal care. Some of us carry wounds left by fathers who could not give the love we longed to receive. Some of us know relationships marked by distance, disappointment, or regret. And some of us bear memories that are tender, and others that are painful.
Loving God, hold us all in Your mercy.
Where there is gratitude, deepen it.
Where there is grief, comfort it.
Where there is anger, meet it with Your healing presence.
Where there is guilt, bring forgiveness.
Where there are broken relationships, grant peace, even when reconciliation is beyond our reach.
Teach us to remember honestly and to love wisely. Help us to honor what was good, grieve what was lost, and entrust what cannot be changed into Your hands.
Thank You that Your love is not limited by human failures. When earthly fathers fall short, You remain faithful. When families are fractured, You gather us into Your covenant family. When our hearts are weary, You call us Your beloved children.
On this Father’s Day, bless those who father others. Give them patience, humility, courage, and grace. May they reflect Your compassion and steadfast love in their homes and communities.
And for all of us, remind us that nothing can separate us from Your love.
In the name of Jesus, who taught us to call You Father,
Amen.
