A Prayer for Ordinary Days

Not every day feels like a beginning.

Some days feel like repetition—another sink of dishes, another errand, another list that never quite ends. Sometimes they feel a little like standing still, even as the hours pass.

And yet, these are the places where most of our life actually happens. These are the places where God meets us, not with fireworks, but with presence—steady, quiet, and faithful.

As I began this new space, I wanted to offer something simple and steady for the days that feel ordinary, unfinished, or quietly heavy. The days that may not feel important, but somehow still matter more than we realize.

If you’re reading this on a day that feels painfully ordinary, may you remember that God is here too—fully present in this very moment.

Here is a simple prayer for those ordinary days for you to carry with you:

God of the everyday, meet me here in this small, ordinary moment.

In the tasks that feel unnoticed, let me sense Your steady grace.
In the conversations I didn’t plan, let me hear Your whisper of hope.
In the places where I feel stretched thin, remind me that I am not alone.

When the day feels repetitive, help me remember that You are still at work.
Open my eyes to small glimpses of Your goodness along the way.
Teach me to trust that You are already here—
in the quiet, in the simple, in the ordinary.

Amen.

Be blessed,

Cathy D.
